Augmented Reality (AR) is transforming the art of storytelling across all fields, from advertising to product design, but you don’t have to be a computer scientist to create AR experiences! Snap AR, the team behind Snapchat’s industry-leading AR magic, and their Global Head of Learning (Dr. Stacey Long-Genovese) are collaborating with the Oregon Reality Lab in Portland to create Snap AR Scholars, a student-led initiative where students learn how to use Snap AR’s Lens Studio to create AR experiences that help local and national organizations tell their stories and create a positive impact.
This year's client is Hope for Haiti. Hope for Haiti is a non-profit organization based in Naples, Florida, USA, founded in 1989 by JoAnne Kuehner. The mission of the organization is to improve the quality of life for the Haitian people, particularly children, through education, healthcare, water, infrastructure and economy.
Joining is completely FREE, and open to ALL MAJORS on ALL CAMPUSES. By joining Snap AR Scholars students will:
Gain skills related to developing AR content using Lens Studio
Add globally-distributed AR content to your portfolio
Gain project management skills by working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team
Understand spatial considerations in AR design
Gain hands-on research experience by working with scholars to test your AR content
