Vanportal is an interactive augmented reality (AR) experience centered on Vanport, Oregon. Once the nation’s largest housing project, and Oregon’s second largest city, a 1948 flood displaced the roughly 6,300 Black residents into heavily redlined communities, exacerbating the racial tensions that have come to define the state’s past and present. Over 73 years later, less than 30 survivors of the Vanport flood remain, and thus preserving their story is of particular urgency and importance
